Valmiki or Tulsidas , Which Ramayana to follow ?
Ramayana has been illustrated by many authors and writers over the ages. Rama's life has been a prime source of inspiration for great poets and writers. The two main authors that we talk about as we discuss about Rama are : Valmiki and Tulsidas. Valmiki's Ramayana and Tulsidas's Ramacharitra Manas both revolve around the basic story of Ramayana but are far way different.
Valmiki's Ramayana tells us story of Ram's Life. Ram + Ayan itself means Rama's life. Valmiki as a wirter concentrates on each character of Rama's life and tells his story as a Biography. He didn't used any kind of metaphor to illustrate Rama's Character but uses his story to define him. The language of Valmiki's Ramayana is very rude and in some scenes he uses abusive language. (Sita abuses Laxmana during the Sita Haran episode) . Valmiki left many stones unturned in Rama's Life that made it more interesting. It is said that the story that Valmiki wrote was all his imagination and he carved the story of Rama much before Rama was born. The story that Valmiki wrote eventually went true and became famous and popular.

Tulsidas's Ramacharitra Manas tells us story of Ram's life but by concentrating on Rama's Character. He uses many metaphors for depicting the Rama as an individual. The language is very soothing and regal. This is the reason Tulsidas's Ramayana is mostly narrated in books and temples. Tulsidas is not the actual writer of Ramayana.
Rama was born with many hands
According to Tulsidas, Rama's birth was very weird. He was born with many hands. Vishnu actually took birth in his actual form and didn't cry on getting delivered. Everybody was shocked as they didn't hear any creepings of the childs. When Kaushalya , saw the child she was very annoyed by Lord vishnu and requested him to please come in a normal way , as all human beings come to this world. Vishnu accepted the order of his mother and became a normal child as others.

Sita was found in ground
Similarly as Rama, Sita's birth was also not from normal conditions and procedures. King Janak (father of Sita) from many years didn't had any child and was very sad. His also went into debt and vanishing slowly. Once he was helping farmers in farming a drought land , he found a basket that was moving. As he picked it up he found a baby girl inside it and named her Sita. After Sita's birth everything went normal in Janak's Kingdom and it started to flourish.

Rama was Cursed
Rama, although being so king and perfect was cursed once due to which he had to face many difficult consequences. Once , Narad muni came to Lord Rama and aksed him to give him his facial beauty for sometime so that he could join the swamyavar ceremony of his lover. Lord Rama gave him his monkey appearance and form for one day as that was also one of his forms and beauties. Narad Muni not informed of this went to the ceremony with then monkey face and became a medium of laughter over there. Narad Muni became very angry and cursed him that as he was suffering the pain of his love , he will also suffer the same being a human being.
